The distance from Pokhara to Mustang is 150km, but the most of the trekkers start in Jomsom. Visitors take a domestic flight to reach Jomsom and from there you can walk through snow covered peaks such as Nilgiri and Tukche, and also through Muktinath, a popular Hindu pilgrimage. The Mustang lies approximately 200 km inland and consists mainly of infertile land, deep canyons, cliffs and moraine valleys. The landscape here is exceptional as to its views, wilderness, snow peaks and spectacular 16th century monasteries. The view of the windblown Kali Gandaki valley, the landscape around Kagbeni, and the cliffs in the high mountains guarantee an unforgettable experience.
Since Manaslu is a special area for trekkers and was only officially opened from 1991 onwards for trekking, it needs special permits. Trekking in this area will give you an exciting, adventurous and once in a lifetime experience.
