Langtang Region
The Langtang region is easily accessible from Kathmandu and offers you a cultural experience and adventure. You can trek for a week, 10 days or up to 3 weeks in this region. The 3 week trek combines three regions (Langtang, Helambu and Gosaikunda), and crosses through the high mountain passes.
The trekking is more easy than in popular regions such as the Everest and Annapurna and the local people are very friendly.
The different trekking possibilities are listed below. During the last three routes (Gosaikunda, Shivapuri, Helambu) you trek to the magnificent holy lake of Gosaikunda, which is situated at 4000 m altitude and is a very famous place for Hindu pilgrims. The Langtang-Ganjala pass trek is only possible with an overnight stay in tents. There is also the possibility of visiting places where cheese made from yak milk is manufactured during the Langtang trekking (10 days).
The perfect season for all these trekking trips is between the second week of February until the second week of June and also between mid September and mid November. The trek is less favourable between mid June and mid August. The rest of the year is also good for trekking in this region. During the 2nd and 3rd week of August the trekking routes of Gosaikunda, Shivapuri and Helambu are busy with Hindu pilgrims heading towards the holy lake of Gosaikunda.
