The Langtang Helambu trek is situated north east of Kathmandu. This trek offers you a fantastic view of the Langtang Himalayan range (with peaks up to 7800m), the fantastic beautiful sacred lakes of Gosainkunda and Tamang’s and Sherpa’s villages. The last part of the trek will take you through alpine forests, apple orchards, and rice field terraces.
In the villages and lodges, Tamang and Sherpa people will welcome you. These ethnic groups have their own language, habits, and culture.
During the trek, we will stay in trekkers lodges (with minimum comfort) along the trail. A good health and perfect fitness is required.
A good season to plan this trek is from September to May. The best months are October, February and March.
Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu - Syabru Besi
Pick-up at your hotel or guesthouse for the drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. Today’s journey goes by local bus and takes 6 hours.

Syabru Besi is located at 1450m above sea level.

Day 2: Syabru Besi - Lama Hotel
We will start our hike from Syabru besi and walk through fairytale forests upto Lama Hotel (2380m).

Day 3: Lama Hotel - Langtang
Today’s trek goes along Langtang Khola (river) and passes a few local villages.
It goes mainly upward from Lama Hotel to Langtang. Here one can start feeling the influence of the altitude. Overnight in Langtang at 3433m.

Day 4: Langtang - Kyangin
A short hike (approx. 3hrs) today from Langtang to Kyangin Gompa (3750m).
Rest/ time for acclimatization/ enjoy the views in this magnificent valley surrounded by high peaks and glaciers.
In autumn season one can visit the local cheese factory in Kyangin (where cheese is produced from yak-milk).

Day 5: Kyangin - Lama Hotel
Hiking back down today, in 6 to 7 hrs from Kyangin to Lama Hotel.

Day 6: Lama Hotel - Thulo Syabru
Walk up and down in around 6 hours from Lama Hotel to the beautiful forests around Thulo Syabru.
Tonight we sleep at 2210m altitude.

Day 7: Thulo Syabru - Sin Gompa
It will take about 5 hours hiking (mainly uphill) from Thulo Syabru to Sin Gompa (3254m).

Day 8: Sin Gompa - Gosainkunda
After our acclimatization in Kyangin, we can go today immediately from Sin Gompa to Gosainkunda.
Gosainkunda is situated at 4350m and has different lakes on this idyllic spot. These lakes are also known as “the holy lakes” and attract hundreds of Hindu pilgrims every year in August.

Day 9: Gosainkunda - Phedi
Wake up early today for the hike from Gosainkunda to Ghopte/ Tharepati (3510m).
First stage is the crossing of the Laurebina Pass (4610m). Later is goes more downhill, passing rocky areas and waterfalls.
Overnight in a simple homestay as there are no trekkers lodges available here.

Day 10: Ghopte - Melamchi Goan
Trekking downwards from Ghopte/ Tharepati to Melamchi Goan (2530m).
During the trip of yesterday and today we can see the vegetation change from alpine over sub-alpine to mountain mossy forest.

Day 11: Melamchi Gaon - Tarke Ghyang
Leaving Langtang National Park today’s trek leads from Melamchi Goan to Tarke Ghyang in the Helambu region.
Tarke Ghyang is situated at 2560m above sea level.

Day 12: Tarke Ghyang - Sermathang
Passing local villages and exploring the Helambu area, we hike from Tarke Ghyang to Sermathang.
Enjoy your last day full of hiking and nature, as tomorrow Kathmandu will be reached.

Day 13: Sermathang - Kathmandu
Last hike from Sermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazar and drive to Kathmandu.
Local transportation is included, private transportation is possible on request.

Price Details
Prices – valid for your trek in 2024
€991 per person (on the basis of 2 persons)
The price for a single person is €1186.
Groups from 3 to 5 persons pay €863 per person.
Groups from 6 to 9 persons pay €796 per person.
Ask for your price via info@treknepal.be for more than 9 participants.
The service of a porter will cost you €309 for the full trek and he/she will carry max. 12kg.
Guests who carry their own luggage, don’t pay this extra cost.
