    The Upper Mustang trek is exceptional because of the beautiful remote area. It is also called the desert of the Himalayas’. Mustang is the former Kingdom of Lo and now a part of Nepal. You need a special trekking permit to enter in this region which is rather expensive. The villages are authentic and almost the same as in the 14th century. Influences from the Tibetan culture are evident in the daily lives of people. This is a trek with accommodation in lodges. The maximum altitude for this trip is 4280m. In the Upper Mustang region there is less chance of rain, because it is located in the “rain shadow” of the Himalayas.
