Annapurna Region

The different cultures of people that live north of Pokhara makes each day a new hiking experience in itself. This region is one of the most popular hiking destinations of Nepal. Trekking options for this region can involve trips ranging from 5 days to 25 days. This entire region includes: the valley of Kali Gandaki, Manang region, Annapurna Mountain range, Jomsom, and the Annapurna sanctuary (at 4000 m of altitude, surrounded by circular Annapurna massive).

The 300 km long Annapurna loop (circuit) combines these different regions and crosses the Thorung-La pass (5400m). This trekking adventure covers the entire Annapurna trekking region and can be completed in about 3 weeks.

The best period to go for trekking in this region is Mar/Apr/May when the rhododendrons bloom and in Sep/Oct/Nov. It is also possible to trek in February and June for the treks listed below. July and August are less suitable for Poon Hill and ABC. The Annapurna Circuit and a trek to Muktinath may still be possible in July and August. Trekking to Poon Hill and Muktinath are also very good in December and January.
