Manaslu (8156m), the 8th highest peak in the world, is located northwest of Kathmandu, near the border with Tibet. This area was only opened for trekking in 1991. This rather heavy trek offers you untouched nature, age-old culture and an impression of the greatness of the Himalayas.
We start our trek in Arughat Bazar, about a 6-hour drive from the capital. During 7 days we follow the rock gorge of the Burhi Gandaki, passing small villages. Afterwards, the valley becomes wider and shows remarkable panoramas along the border with Tibet. This mysterious valley was an important trade route to Tibet in the past. When we approach the crossing of Larkya La (5135m), the vegetation becomes more and more alpine. The main peaks around us are Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Cheo Himal and Himlung Himal. After crossing Larkya La, we enter the Annapurna area.
Kathmandu durbar square and Swayambunath (the “monkey temple”) are visited during the city visits. Both major attractions that every visitor to Nepal “must see” at least once. Swayambunath is a Buddhist stupa on a hilltop overlooking the entire Kathmandu.
Bhaktapur is a quiet city in the Kathmandu Valley, protected world heritage site and also known for its potteries, carvings and handmade paper (lokta).
You choose whether you want a carrier for your luggage during the trek or not (price is stated separately).
A maximum of 8 people are admitted for this group trip.
